As Carlos Tevez and Oscar sign huge Chinese Super League deals - who are the highest paid footballers in the world?

20. Bastian Schweinsteiger - £200,000-per-week Louis van Gaal made Schweinsteiger one of the highest earners at Old Trafford before Jose Mourinho's arrival signalled the end of his United career. With two years left on his deal, the club reportedly wrote off the £6.7m that the German will earn for the next two years.

19. David De Gea - £200,000-per-week The goalkeeper signed a lucrative new long-term contract with Manchester United just a month after he came within hours of a move to Real Madrid.

18. David Silva - £210,000-per-week The Spanish playmaker signed a contract extension in 2014 keeping him at Manchester City until 2019.
