Arsenal will test Real Madrid’s resolve to hold onto Isco.
According to a report in The Mirror the Gunners are ready to put in a bid for the 24-year-old who is struggling to get a regular game under Zinedine Zidane.
With a contract that runs until June 2018 Isco is in a similar to a number of Arsenal players with the next six months crucial for his future.
Real would be looking for £30m to sell him now but with the clock ticking on his contract Arsenal’s first offer is likely to be closer to £20m. Isco has only started eight matches this season which further clouds the issue. Real have offered a new contract but some cynics believe that offer has been made to preserve the players transfer value. The players’ preferred option would be to stay on at Real but if that’s unlikely to involve first team football a club like Arsenal, with it’s tradition and Champions League credentials, then emerges as a contender for the 24-year-old. Ironically Isco could be arriving at Arsenal as a replacement for Mesut Ozil- who joined from Real in a £43m deal in 2013.
